How/when will the book be published?
We’re aiming for a February publication date, to coincide with Women in Horror Month. The WHA will be in ebook format, with a print-on-demand option.
Does it pay?
At present, we cannot promise any kind of monetary remuneration; this is very much a passion project. We would very much like to compensate our contributors, and this is something we’re looking into. You will, of course receive a digital copy. Again, we hope to be able to provide you with a printed copy, but we cannot guarantee it at this point in time.
I’m interested in submitting a short story. Is there anything I need to know other than length?
Let your imagination run wild! Erotica is accepted, as are other cross-genre writings. We will not consider fanfic.
I’m considering submitting to nonfiction. Is there anything you specifically want or don’t want?
Please no reporting or interviews, unless the interview is written up as an article. We’re not looking specifically for papers on women in the horror industry; our only mandate is the submission be written by a woman. Want to write about snuff? That’s cool. An in-depth article about female representations on Supernatural? Sure. Really dig horror video game history? Sounds good.
Who owns the rights to my writings?
While your story or nonfiction piece is your intellectual property, WHA retains first print and electronic publishing rights. What that means is, if you later want to publish or have published the same story or nonfiction piece elsewhere, it must be labeled a reprint.
